Frequently Asked Questions

Does a tenant need lease addendum to make improvements?

Yes, an addendum or written agreement with the landlord is usually required to make improvements and modifications to the rental property. Most leases will contain a provision that prevents the tenant from making alterations to the property without the landlord’s written consent.

Can there be additional agreements to the addendum?

Yes, the addendum can be made in conjunction with a separate agreement between the parties. For example, the tenant may negotiate a contract with the landlord for a reduction in rent, or other compensation, for making improvements to the property.
