The Indiana roommate agreement allows a group of individuals that share a tenancy to draft a set of terms and conditions to which all parties agree by supplying their signature. The contract is separate from the lease agreement for the roommates’ residence and does not involve the landlord. The completed document includes the allocation of monthly rent and bill payments, as well as guidelines for common areas, cleaning duties, and overnight guests.
By signing the document, the roommates agree to its terms and will be responsible for upholding their obligations. If any of the signatories breaks the terms of their agreement, they may face consequences that could range from financial penalties to being asked to move out or face legal action.
