A Virginia roommate agreement allows two (2) or more individuals to negotiate and agree upon the rights and responsibilities of each person as they pertain to their shared living space. In some cases, not all the roommates will be on the original lease; however, these individuals will nonetheless be held to the same level of responsibility as the original tenants. A roommate agreement contains provisions that govern how the roommates will create a fair living environment, such as chores and duties, pet rules, parking spaces, guest approval, common area uses, and noise levels/quiet times.
