A Maine property disclosure statement is delivered from a seller of real estate to a buyer to report the property’s present condition. The disclosure must feature detailed information concerning each of the home’s systems, including its water supply, waste disposal, heating system, and entryways, along with a report of the property’s general condition. In addition, the Maine legislature mandates sellers of residential property to notify purchasers of any hazards in or around the premises to the best of their knowledge. This may include underground oil storages, traces of radon, lead-based paint, asbestos, or methamphetamine contamination.
Individuals receiving the Maine property disclosure statement should be advised that it is provided as a resource for the buyer and does not constitute any contract between the buyer and seller.
