No Restriction – The tenant has the right to sublease if the original lease doesn’t prohibit it. Landlord consent is recommended but may not be legally required.[1]
Restriction – The original lease may contain a provision that states the tenant can sublet only with permission from the landlord, but consent cannot be withheld unreasonably.[2]
Prohibition – The landlord may prohibit subleasing completely if it is written in the original rental agreement.[3]
