Mississippi independent contractor agreement is used to detail a business relationship whereby a self-employed person (the contractor) performs services for an individual or entity (the client). Standard employment laws do not apply to independent contractors (e.g., minimum wage, overtime pay). Because there are fewer laws that regulate independent contractors, the independent contractor agreement serves as the foremost authority in regulating the parties’ conduct and activity throughout the working relationship.

The agreement will state the contractor’s responsibilities, wage (hourly rate or fee), insurance requirements, and policies for expense reimbursement. It may also stipulate a timeline for completion and an expiration date upon which the agreement automatically terminates.
